I have failed today for once. Am very depressed for failing which I have not failed before. Sadly but its true, need to face the fact that I have failed for this once. I have to prepare to strive again. This time making sure it will  not fail. Its a must to pass.

A chance to conceive is a blessing from God to us women. Through my 1 1/2 years of working in Maternity Ward, I have seen many cases of difficulty in conceiving. Some have been married for 10years and seen a lot of Dr around the states but still unsuccessful. Some cases are so rare where some have 2 uterus or only have one ovary. I felt it is not easy to get conceive. Though men will think that 1 shot and there the miracle happens. Hey MEN! Have you ever think whether is your sperm that strong that in millions of sperms 1 of them will be able to swim all the way up to fertilize the ovum? Or are you sure your lady has an ovum waiting for your sperm? I still believe i is the fate by the God.

Some couples take it as a blessing and accepted it well. Some thinks its a trouble and try to get it of it. Some accidents do happen that’s why condom’s are easily bought in the convenient store. If you don’t trust in condom then any other family planning method will be just fine. I was taught that it is illegal to do abortion and it is also prohibited in our religion except certain cases like if the pregnancy is harmful towards the mother or the foetus no longer grow then removal of the sac can be done. There are times when couples come in with excuses such as “its an accident and this is not the best time to have 1″ then why not be more careful. There are various types of family planning to choose from condom, pill, iucd, implant.

I remembered reading an article whereby abortion is done illegally at clinics. If I am not mistaken its from the Star newspaper. Couples whom are not married. It is sad to hear that. I wonder whether do they feel the guilt in them for doing so. I mean its alive in you, my dear ladies.

Very sad to see cases like this. Worst still mostly are Chinese. Worst of all they are adults whom are working. I am sure they will be manage to get married and have this child. Imagine those that tried their best but chances are not given to them.

Today, I am the only SN (Staff Nurse), so I need to be in chargeBlossom the boss of the ward with two SEN (Asst. Nurse). Today I was quite alright, everything was done neatly until I forgot 1 patient’s MC. Luckily, I got it and gave it to her before she goes home. If not, *du dum* I will get bombarded by my ward Sr. in charge.Knock! Anyway, today was a little quiet morning duty comparing to the other morning duty, horribly busy. Lots of them discharges today around 4 of them. 1 came in for early labour. She came in with complain of lower abdomen pain like period pain, so we did a CTG (cardiotocography) to observe the fetal heart and also her contractions. Anyway, there is mild pain 1:6. So Dr. Noor came to examined her and did a vaginal examination where her os is open 2cm with cervix partially effaced and membrane +, station -3. Then we observe her for 2 hours then Dr. Boop came to check on her, same finding so he said let her progress slowly and we will see later if we need to accelerate her. Then when my shift ended, she was still comfortable walking around. I wonder how is she now.

Then I went to have dinner with Kim Fei, he came and fetched me. We went to McDonald to have the Ramadhan buffet. Wow…we ate so many things. I think I ate more than 30pieces of chicken nuggets. Then I have 4 packets of french fries, 1 packet of apple pie, 1 sundae fudge, 2 cups of corn and 3 cups of sodas. Its was like I am starving for few days.Gulp Gulp Anyway I guess I am not that big eater comparing to the other malay guys. I thought they were until I realize they actually sneaking those burgers home via their bag. They kept on taking one whole tray of burger (8 per tray) and apple pie. Then calculating the boxes of burger on the table comparing with those amount they took, you will know they sneak it out. Anyway, who cares.

Tomorrow I will be off, asked mum to come to Kim Fei’s house to pick me up tomorrow. Then going to hunt for my tray to make konyaku jelly. Making it for my farewell party at the old building of my hospital since on the 18 of October we will be moving there. So 17 October is the last day for us to be there to eat and work and celebrate. Cool!! I shall take lots of photos and videos.Okie Dokie Toodle loo.

A new journey to new Pyramid October 8, 2007

On Sunday, I went to walk around at the new wing of Sunway Pyramid. The decoration is not as nice as the old building but it’s huge. More new outlets there. I took some photo with my mobile since my camera is still in the factory.

Roof of new building The new building ceiling decoration. Doesn’t seems much like Egypt style.

10072007533.jpg Look at the light tower. Something unique that I guess I have never seen in any of the shopping mall yet.

Outside view

Can even view the Sunway Lagoon from the other end of the new building. At the Quicksilver outlet, we can view the inner of the lagoon theme park.

Marrakish SideWalk It’s the Marrakish Side Walk, it doesn’t look like Egypt walk but I think I feel like in Arab country walk. But it’s something unique.

Hubbie cheese!

Purposely candid camera at Kim Fei. He was busy looking around and I just called him and he looked over, snap! My ‘leng chai’

That day, we went to watch Resident Evil : Extinction. This movie is not too bad, anyway it’s all about Umbrella Corp. I like the game so much so I like this movie too. Not too bad for the action.

Yesterday my car seems to be giving me a little problem. Suddenly my car battery went weak I think it’s the connector. Anyway, mum knocked on the connector and the car lock can be opened or not I will be stuck inside. Then I was so scared I couldn’t start the car this morning to go to work. Anyway, luckily it work if not then I will have to take Emergency Leave. Luckily, I didn’t cause it’s a busy day today at work. Non stop from the moment I start working. I sent my patient to Sheela Maternity Home for Elective LSCS at around 0730hours. Then I reached back to my workplace around 0830hours, then the labourer has already delivered. A baby boy, so cute. Then a few hours later, another labour was to be bring in to the Labour Room. Then the progress was fast even though for a primid ( first pregnancy lady) but then there is rim around when doctor did vaginal examination. Anyway luckily she was able to make it and delivered just before my shift ends. Then quickly cleaned up everything and my colleague passed report over to the afternoon shift staffs. It was a busy day, outside admission till nearly filling up the ward. Then 2 patients for discharge. It was nice to be busy at least we don’t feel the time passing by slowly. Anyway, after work came back and rest for an hour or so then went for dinner. As usual, dinner at Zen, Subang. Mum and I ordered a lot of Ala Carte.

It tasted so delicious. But mum said the garlic rice doesn’t taste that nice cause not enough garlic. Tasted like normal fried rice only. Others were great. Ate until we couldn’t move. Below is the video showing mum cooking her beef dish.

Guilty but have to.. October 5, 2007

Today early morning around 5.30am, my hospital rang me up lots of time to ask me to do overtime cause 1 of my colleague took MC but then I told I really can’t help cause I just went to bed around 4am. I was knitting as usual. Then I think they rang till my hand phone is running out of battery so I went to put it outside of the second living hall to charge and they called again around 8.30am I think, I was in the bedroom sleeping so I couldn’t hear the ringing. Felt guilty because I think they really needed someone to work but I am very tired, how can I work without enough sleep. Furthermore I am driving from such a far place. I just woke up around 1pm to see the missed calls. Surely tomorrow everyone will be saying bad about me, when needed but I can’t help. You know working place, whenever they have the chance they will talk bad about each other. Pretty boring of their silly attitude, can’t they just be mature and let things go. Sometimes, I am bored with them being 2 different people in front and behind of me. I also don’t feel like working with full initiative but then think again I am not working for them, I am working for my own future.

Anyway, I asked mum to bring me to Mid Valley mega mall to have a look at the new wing “The Garden”, at first I thought of accompanied her to pay bills then straight go but by 10am she came in to woke me up I was pretty sleepy still, so she has to go pay the bills and come back again to pick me up. It’s already 1.30pm, I wonder what time will she be back. Thought of having the McD buffet for dinner tonight with Kim Fei, I guess it’s rather impossible, cause if I am having my lunch after 2pm, I wouldn’t be hungry till 9pm. Let see later.

Working in dilemma October 4, 2007

Today, I went to PMC Bangsar to fetch my patient. You guys must be wondering why am I going to another branch hospital to fetch my patient. You see, as my hospital is shifting to a new building, so the equipments in our Operation Theatre have been moved to the new building so no operation are allowed in our hospital. Due to that inconvenience, we have to borrow OT from our sister branch which is Bangsar where it is the nearest. Then while fetching this patient in the ambulance, she was asking me, “can I deliver my baby at Bangsar instead of Klang since her friend previously delivered at Bangsar?”, so I told her it’s impossible since when reaching her due date, we have already shifted to the new building so there is not transferring patient to Bangsar. Then she was a bit disappointed due to the image of the old building comparing with Bangsar. Of course Bangsar is a 5star hospital whereby Klang is only 2star. Then I reassure her that the new building will look much better maybe 3.5star. Then she was a bit relieve. She came to this hospital is just because of the Doctor. Sure enough our Dato Dr. Boopalan and Datin Dr. Noor are the best O&G Dr. So far I have seen so many tricky cases under them are solved. Just like some couples married for more than 7yrs couldn’t conceive and once they came to Dr. for treatment they conceived and delivered healthy babies. It’s a miracle and I believe it as I see through my own eyes and hear from them. When I told my patient about this she was shocked and said you sure they are so powerful, I said of course they are experience. They are not playing God just that they used their experience to help regulate the hormones in body to stabilize making sure ovulation and males sperm is in good condition for fertilization to occur.

I am proud of these two Dr. I am glad I am working under them. With their teaching, I understand a lot.

At last, postponing for such a long time. My hospital is finally moving to the new building few km away from the old one. Still waiting for the meeting tomorrow to finalize the whole thing and set the exact date to pack and move. But exact date to operate is 22nd October 2007. After a year and 3 months working here, at last I can work in a new building. Though at first when I came to this old building I really dislike working there, it’s so much different from PMC. Hope for the best in the new building. Will take some photo and post up later.

Today, my in charge sister told me that I was the top scorer for the Basic Life Support course. It’s just a day training course about CPR usage. I didn’t get the chance to get my certificate yet as I am quite busy these 2 days, so maybe tomorrow I can get it.

I am very tired from working. Better rest early.

Shopping day! September 30, 2007

Today I am in charge in the nursery again. The baby was put into incubator for observation. So there she is peeing and pooping every 30minutes and wetting the whole cloth which covers the incubator mat. Then with the pulse oxymeter monitor connected with the baby. Then the Dr. came to check on the baby. The baby’s blood result partially was normal except for the Platelet count where it drop from 247 to 157, so he was worried and ordered to repeat the blood test tomorrow morning. Then we are still worried about the baby’’s eyes where she still couldn’t open it up till today 2days since birth date. Swollen decrease. The baby is tolerating well with feeds but Dr. ordered to change the one we giving, Mamex, to soy milk, Isomil. The baby was fine just that the temperature is fluctuating. This isn’t just the problem for me, practically the baby is not a bother to me at all. She is fun to take care of. The only one is the other baby whom has neonatal jaundice. This boy is not a trouble but the mother is. Complaining is her first skills. For photo therapy treatment, baby must have their eyes covered with eye band which we called them biliband. This biliband is a bit lose, so if the baby is active and move alot it will slide down. So the mother was complaining that the nurses didn’t bother coming in to check on my baby and when I called only they will answer me. I was shocked when most of my colleagues said they did attend to her just that sometimes we are so hooked up with the other patient we didn’t visit her as often as she wants us to. The ward is 90% filled with 4 babies. 1 staff in nursery and 2 outside in charge of the ward. Then she complained to our sister on call that time. Saying that she is in the hospital just for breastfeeding her baby and not taking care of her. The staff is in charge to take care of her baby. Sometimes she is over I felt, I mean of course we will take care just that we couldn’t be there 24 hours with her baby as what she wanted as we have other patients whom are much more ill than her baby. Ok ok, you all might be wondering why is this baby admitted to Maternity Ward , it’s because the single room in Paediatric Ward is occupied and she only wanted single room, so admitted her in Maternity instead. Then she kept on scolding that the nurse told her to slide back up the eye band every time it slide down, she said it’s not my duty to do so. Its the nurses and they shouldn’t explain to her that the baby active movement causes the eye band to slide, they should find a solution. I found the solution and shut her up. I can’t tell her anything as she wouldn’t accept anyone’s advice or explanation not even from the senior nurses, so all we can do is just listen. Funny day at work today. blek

But then my day was brighten up by Kim Fei bringing me to shopping at 1Utama. Was suppose to use my discount card for my birthday by Padini Holdings. jumping star Anyway I had fun doing shopping today. Mostly window shopping for the first 2 hours then I saw this interesting event by the PEACE foundation stamping hand prints of children on a long huge paper.

PEACE

Then we went on to our dinner at Sushi Groove. We had a pleasant dinner, some dish was nice some wasn’t.

Front entrance of Sushi Groove

We ordered a few dishes the most I like was the mini burger meat. Below is the few dishes that I ordered :

Soft shell crab temakiTako takoPotato pancakeMini burger meatFlying geisha & mini calamariBling blingOrange- something *forgot*

Look delicious isn’t it? But then I will give it a C. Not a place that I would try again.

Then after dinner I saw something I really like and I went to buy some of it. A skirt from Island Shop for just RM10, then at Motivi a skirt for RM25 and a blouse for RM27 and last I bought 3 new bras at La Senza promotion 3 for RM159. It was comfortable after all. Then it’s getting late and bought dinner, Nando’s, for mum since dad had dinner tonight she was left alone. Don’t say I didn’t invite her to go along to 1Utama, she didn’t want to. Then I came back home, since it’s getting real late and Kim Fei need to work tomorrow so do I though it’s afternoon shift. I bought chocolate from Marks & Spencer. You know Sunway Pyramid new wing is going to open and there even have Jusco and other tenants like 1Utama. So don’t need to go all the way so far to 1Utama, Pyramid here I come. BouncingYahhoooo!!!!

After 4 days off, back to work… September 29, 2007

Today is one hectic day. Blur after 4 days off and lack of sleep. My sister has problem with the TNT package where the custom fine them some duty charge and she need to pay 250pound for the previous 2 packages and 100pound for the present one. She woke me up around 2am and told me about it. Couldn’t sleep after that, rang up their 24hours hotline and enquire about the problem. They will find out the solution for us and give us the feedback by Monday. so I hope all the duty charges will be cancelled. Anyway after that call, I think I went to bed around 3.30am.

Then by 6am I have to wake up for work. Reached work 15mins before 7am. Today I am station in the Nursery. 4 babies for me to take care. Looks easy but then one of them was having fever from 2am. 38celcius. Then Dr. came to examine the baby. The baby was put on cannula for IV antibiotics and there is some sore at the buttock boarded on a cream for it. Before that was seen my the eye Dr. because the eye seems not opening, so boarded on eye drop. SPO2 monitoring was on to observe since her apex beat and respiration were rapid. I given the first dose of IV antibiotics to her via cannula. Then continue her eye drop. I was talking with the person in charge for the TNT package when the eye Dr. came in..shotttt…luckily I off it as soon as possible and continue following his round. Then 2 babies are for discharge, left 2 in the nursery. Then without noticing the time its already 2pm, with all the lack of sleep and the busy we got. Time to change shift. Passed the morning report to the afternoon shift girls and pack things to go back. Pity the baby, she will be put in the incubator for further observations. Last temperature was 38.8celcius, given her a stat dose of syrup PCM 1ml. Hope she gets alright by the time I come back for my morning shift tomorrow. I was only in the nursery for the whole shift. I do not know what is happening outside to those patient. But there is one that I know for sure. A mother that she thinks that she is the queen of the hospital. She expect us to give her 24 hrs full attention to her and her baby. Oh my goodness. She doesn’t understand what is hospital. Hospital is full of patient and not only her and baby. Complaining that no one give attention to them. Only when she ring the call bell then they come but isn’t that suppose to be that way. We have other patient to take care of. Even babies in the nursery to take care. The Dr. told me to be there the whole shifts but how can I with 4 babies inside before the other 2 being discharge. Anyway I tried my best but I was occupied by the sick baby and the other one because she was a slow drinker. Then she complain that I didn’t come in at all. My goodness who is going to take care of her if you are at home. You yourself! What kinda mother. First time I am meeting this kind of mother. Then she is still my patient, so listen and treat and forget…thats the way I do my job.

Tonight, Kim Fei’s mum want to treat me dinner for my birthday and I can’t say no since it’s been a long time I didn’t go to their house to stay overnight. Further more Kim Fei’s grandma is coming down to have dinner with us. Though I don’t feel like going but then it’s not nice since aunt invited. Feel bad to reject such nice offer. Will be eating at King Crab. Don’t have much appetite lately. Don’t know why. Lack of sleep I guess.

After an interesting night duty September 26, 2007

Though this is not my first time on night duty but this 1 slot was rather different from the others. During this slot of night duty I don’t feel sleepy at all during 10hours of duty time. Maybe because I am so busy knitting a scarf for my boyfriend whom is going to Finland for training on October.

Scarf for Kim Fei

I hope I am able to finish this scarf before he goes to Finland.

At our centre, we have a new Night sister in charge. She is the youngest sister in charge in our centre but then she seems nice. My favourite patient at last delivered her baby girl at 36weeks. She was a patient whom suffer Prem. Labour condition several time. She has been in and out for a lot of times because of tightening and contractions. It was painful for her as she will be put on IV drips Ventolin and boarded on drugs like Nifedipine. This help her uterus to relax. At 34 weeks she was very pressurize, she insisted to deliver her baby at that time but it was dangerous for the baby and also to the mother. It would be easy to be done at Government hospital as there are fully equip. So Datin Dr. Noor, advised to wait another 2 more weeks to deliver the patient. At last she delivered 2 weeks later via spontaneous vaginal delivery. I was so happy and her princess looks so adorable. Everything was going well and quiet till 1hour before my duty end, a labour patient came in with shows and contractions but then she was only 3cm that time, so it was alright. Then she was to be admitted after 7am. *phew* *phew* You know la if she admit our shift then lots of paper work to be done and will delay my time of going home. Adding traffic jam in the morning, it get worst and worst in time. Then thats the end of my 1st night. At my 2nd night, everything went smoothly as usual, till an hour before end of duty again, another labour patient comes in with 5cm and moderate contraction and maternal distress. Then in another 30mins, my colleague check on her again, this time she is around 6-7cm. Oh no..will she deliver in our time? Luckily by end of duty it’s not time yet. Then the next night I come to know that her labour progress wasn’t good where 2nd stage was prolong, she was fully by 8am but delivered by 9.09am. Poor thing and delivered with help of Anderson forcep. This 3rd night, I am in charge of nursery taking care of baby. Luckily they weren’t naughty, after feeding they went to sleep until time to feed only wake up. This night nothing much happen, went on smooth and quiet. So is my last night, but my last night I was a bit sleepy. Today is my first night off, slept the whole day because I didn’t rest well during my night shifts. The when I woke up it’s already in the evening, so mum and I went out to have dinner at RakuZen at Subang Jaya. It was great as usual. Their dishes are delicious. Mum had the huge bento, so I ordered cold somen cause I am afraid she couldn’t finish hers. Then came home to play game and now updating my blog. I better get back to my knitting before time runs out.
